Craig D. Cannon focuses his practice on complex commercial and intellectual property disputes pending in state, federal and international jurisdictions. His broad trial, appellate and arbitration experience includes representing financial institutions, pharmaceuticals, retailers, manufacturers and technology companies in domestic and international shareholder derivative, auction rate security, foreign tax credit, mortgage backed security, fair credit reporting, complex problem loan, breach of contract, data breach, antitrust, trademark, patent, high technology and miscellaneous disputes. He also assists regulated entities in responding to domestic and international investigation and enforcement actions, including SEC, DOJ, FTC and OCC actions. In addition, he is an internationally recognized leader in the areas of electronic discovery, information governance, data privacy, cross-border data transfer and cyber-security. Within Kilpatrick Townsend, he manages and sets the strategic direction for the firm’s award winning E-Discovery team.

Craig joined the firm after serving as Bank of America’s Global Discovery Counsel. At Bank of America, he was responsible for leading several of the world’s largest and most complex electronic discovery, data privacy, cross-border data transfer, information governance and cyber-security projects. He was also responsible for performing due diligence on acquisitions and divestitures and drafting the Books and Records sections within acquisition and divestiture agreements. In addition, he managed a team of litigation attorneys and paralegals responsible for handling material litigation matters located throughout Bank of America’s footprint (both domestically and internationally). Prior to joining Bank of America, Craig served as Senior Litigation Attorney and Global Discovery Counsel at BB&T and as a business and intellectual property litigation attorney for an AmLaw 100 firm.

Professionally, Craig has held several key bar leadership positions, including serving as the National Director of the ABA’s Disaster Legal Services Program, as a member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Board of Governors and as the Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. He has also been active in pro bono activities and is a past recipient of the American Bar Association’s national Pro Bono Publico and Star of the Year Awards, the North Carolina Bar Association’s Charles F. Blanchard Award and the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s national Distinguished Service Award. In addition, he has been recognized as a North Carolina Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine, as one of North Carolina’s Legal Elite by Business North Carolina Magazine, as a North Carolina Impact Law Leader by Business Leader Magazine and as one of the Piedmont Triad’s 40 Leaders Under 40 by the Triad Business Journal.
